Worldwide Golf Adventures Welcomes 2 New Employees
WGA was thrilled to bring on two new full-time staff members this month. Both employees will aid in customer service, sales, and administration, and allow the company to greatly expand its customer base and service aspects.
Mark Byrne, Sales Director
Mark is a longtime veteran of the golf travel industry, with over 13 years of experience in sales and trip planning. He has extensive experience helping plan memorable golf vacations to Ireland and the U.K., and is excited to expand his purview to more spots on the globe. Previous to his work in golf travel, Mark worked in data and analytics, including time at Microsoft. He earned a bachelor’s degree in statistics at the University of Dublin. As a longtime resident of Dublin, Ireland, Mark will serve as Worldwide Golf Adventure’s sales director, as well as a liaison to European tourism and travel entities throughout the British Isles and the continent. In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing golf and spending time with his son.
Derek Smart, Sales Assistant
Derek has years of experience in sales administration, human resources, event management, and customer service. Previous to joining Worldwide Golf Adventures, Derek was the sales administrative assistant at Aztec Financial, where he started in Salt Lake City, Utah before moving to Austin in 2018. Derek earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Utah State University. He spent a semester during his undergraduate studies at the University of Leicester in England, and spent a year working in Dublin, Ireland under an international working holiday visa program after graduating. Derek will be an integral part of the sales and administration team, and will assist with financial aspects and travel arrangements. In his spare time, Derek enjoys traveling (especially internationally), hiking, and cooking.
